The Nord Electro 4 HP is a 73-key stage keyboard from Nord’s legacy Electro 4 range, built for players who want Nord’s organ, electric piano, acoustic piano and sample-based sounds in a relatively portable instrument with a hammer-action portable keybed. In the Electro 4 series, the HP model is the version aimed more at pianists, using a 73-note E–E hammer-action keyboard rather than the waterfall-style action found on the SW and 4D variants.

Its sound architecture is organized around three main areas: Organ, Piano and Sample Library. The organ section includes modeled B3, Vox Continental and Farfisa organs with full polyphony, plus Nord’s C2D-derived tonewheel engine, percussion controls, chorus/vibrato options and rotary speaker behavior. The HP version uses digital LED drawbars instead of physical drawbars.

The piano section draws from the Nord Piano Library and provides categories for Grand, Upright, EPiano 1 (tine), EPiano 2 (reed), and Clavinet/Harpsichord. Nord specifies dedicated piano memory in the HP/SW versions, and the instrument also supports loading sounds from the Nord Sample Library, letting the player add strings, Mellotron-style sounds and other sampled instruments through USB using Nord’s management software.

For live use, the Electro 4 HP includes a practical effects section with tremolo/pan, auto-wah, pedal-wah, ring modulator, phaser, flanger, chorus, compressor, amp/speaker simulations, delay and a 122 rotary speaker simulation. Nord also lists a 3-band EQ with sweepable mid, overdrive-style control, and user-adjustable rotary parameters.

Connectivity is straightforward and stage-friendly: MIDI In/Out on 5-pin DIN, USB Type-B for sound transfer and USB MIDI, sustain/control pedal support, audio outputs, and an IEC power connector. Nord also notes that the Electro 4 can be used in a MIDI split / dual-manual organ setup by connecting an external MIDI keyboard.

In practical terms, the Nord Electro 4 HP is best understood as a performance keyboard for players who prioritize hands-on control, classic keyboard sounds and portability over workstation features such as deep sequencing, onboard speakers or a large multitimbral synth engine. It is a legacy model from the 2012–2015 period, but Nord still lists downloads including the user manual and the final OS update for the Electro 4 family.
