It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Mr. Seiki Kato, President and Representative Director of Korg Inc., who passed away on February 21, 2025, at the age of 67.

Born in Tokyo on March 28, 1957, Mr. Kato was the eldest son of Korg’s founder, Tsutomu Kato, and played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s direction and success. For decades, he was a driving force behind Korg’s innovation, ensuring the company remained at the forefront of musical technology.

Under his leadership, Korg instruments became synonymous with quality, creativity, and musical expression, empowering musicians across the globe. His contributions helped shape the future of music, bringing groundbreaking instruments to life and earning him the deep respect and admiration of industry professionals, musicians, and colleagues alike.

As a team at Keysound, we are incredibly saddened by this news. Steve, who has worked with Korg products for decades, has seen firsthand the impact of Mr. Kato’s leadership in the evolution of Korg’s instruments—from one of their earliest keyboards to the latest flagship Korg PA5X.

Last year, we had the honor of meeting Mr. Kato’s daughter, a moment that further deepened our appreciation for the legacy and vision he passed on. His dedication, passion, and innovation will be sorely missed, but his contributions to the music world will continue to inspire generations to come.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Kato family, the entire Korg team, and all those whose lives have been touched by his work. His legacy will live on through the music, instruments, and creative spirit he helped foster.

Pre-listen

Content can be auditioned in the app before installation. You can listen to the auditions anytime, even without being connected to your instrument.

Install

The app installs your chosen content directly to your instrument. Depending on your instrument's specification, this is done wirelessly or via a USB cable.

Convenient features

Create a list of your favorite content, view your preview and installation history, and switch between light and dark modes in the app.

Contents already installed by Yamaha Expansion Manager into the Expansion area of your keyboard, including pre-installed content in PSR-SX920 and 720, will be removed when installing new content from Yamaha EXPANSION EXPLORER.

About pre-installed content in PSR-SX920 and 720, you will be able to reinstall them through the EXPANSION EXPLORER app, if desired.
